This two-and-a-half-day workshop introduces you to archaeology: what it is, how it’s done, who does it, why we do it, and how you can incorporate it into your educational programming. Professional archaeologists will demonstrate how you can apply archaeological concepts in a classroom or museum setting to teach a wide range of subjects using a hands-on approach to the study of objects.
Pre-registration is required as participant numbers are limited.
Day 1 & 2 | 9am - 4pm: Classroom instruction
Day 3 | 9am - Noon: Outdoor classroom instruction at Lower Cove Springs Park
After attending this workshop, participants will:
- Better understand what archaeology is, and what an archaeologist does, and how archaeologists do archaeology
- Have ideas about how to incorporate archaeology into their educational programming
- What resources are available to teach with and through archaeology and how to find them
- Know who to contact with questions
