On Saturday, April 5, 2025 the Philadelphia Division will meet at a new venue, the Central Bucks Senior Activity Center, 700 N. Shady Retreat Road, Doylestown, PA 18901. Doors open at 8:30am with the program starting at 9:00am.Clinic #1: Mike Junod – Traction Modeling Techniques from the Mayfair Electric. Everyone loves to see trains running in the street. Traction models run in the street all the time. This clinic takes a ground-up approach to having trains run in the street on your own layout. From trackwork to the wire, you will have all the information to get you started. The techniques demonstrated can be applied to any electrified train from Brills to GG1s.
Clinic #2: Alan Silverblatt – Notable Train Wrecks, Part 2: When Good Trains Go Bad. This clinic will continue to examine a number of important train wrecks, and will include historic aftermath photographs along with a discussion of how the events played out, the findings of the accident investigations, the
changes in equipment design and operations that resulted, and other significant facts and context.
As usual we’ll have coffee, donuts, and Philly soft pretzels. Other activities include the white elephant table, door prizes, 50/50 raffle, and a model display table. Members are encouraged to bring projects in any stage of completion to display and discuss if desired.
In addition, the Achievement Program Committee is now judging models at the meets. If you wish to have a model judged, please inform either Earl Paine or Joe Walters ahead of time.
The afternoon features layout visitation. Hope you can make it!
