About this Event
Lincoln Families is sponsoring Klasey Consulting to bring this training to Alameda, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras county providers. System-involved youth can engage in risky behaviors such as running away, using substances, involvement in the commercial sex industry, etc. and not be ready to stop engaging in those behaviors. If social service providers try to pressure youth into changing their behaviors before they’re ready, we can experience a lot of resistance. The Stages of Change Model and Motivational Interviewing help social service providers better assess where one is at in their change process and how to support them on identifying goals and steps to achieve those goals.
Please note that in order to register for these free trainings you must be staff, caregiver or volunteer working directly with foster, adoptive or probation involved children, youth and their families in Alameda, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras only. Participants outside of these areas aren't eligible and will not receive the zoom link.
The learning objectives are:
- Participants will be to describe the Stages of Change model
- Participants will be able to apply the Stages of Change model when working with system-involved youth on their caseload
- Participants will be able to apply motivational interviewing strategies when talking with system-involved youth
