About this Event
YOU WILL NOT GET A MOTORCYCLE LICENSE/ENDORSEMENT BY TAKING THIS COURSE UNLESS YOU ALREADY TOOK THE MSF BRC1 SAFETY COURSE OR THE MSF BRC2 LW SAFETY COURSE AND FAILED THE MSF SKILL TEST WITHIN THE LAST 180 DAYS .
Additional Practice Basic RiderCourse (APBRC) - This group lesson motorcycle safety training course is designed for those who;
1) Already have a motorcycle license/endorsement and want some additional riding practice in an enclosed parking lot.
2) Already took the BRC1 or the BRC2 LW within the last 180 days, did not pass the MSF Skill Test and want some additional practice riding before retaking the MSF Skill Test.
The course can be taken on our training motorcycle or on your own 2-wheel motorcycle.
As stated on the APBRC page of our website, there are two modules/parts to this course.
Module 1 - you take a 5-hour (average time) Pre-Course Assignment called the MSF eCourse, on your own, which covers some of the physical and non-physical riding skills needed to ride a motorcycle safely. The link to the MSF eCourse will be in the confirmation email/tickets you will receive from Eventbrite as soon as you register for this course. More details about the MSF eCourse are on the APBRC page of our website. https://theridingacademyofnj.org/extra-practice-apbrc
Module 2 - you attend approximately five hours of practice riding. More details about the riding session are on the APBRC page of our website.
Time Schedule
Do Module 1, the MSF eCourse, as soon as you can, on your own, at your own pace, preferably 30 days before Module 2. IF YOU ALREADY TOOK THE eCOURSE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO IT AGAIN UNLESS YOU WANT A REFRESHER. JUST REPRINT YOUR COMPLETION CERTIFICATE. We need to submit the eCourse Completion Certificate ID# to the NJ MVC. (Details on how to reprint your Completion Certificate are on the APBRC page of our website).
Module 2, the 1/2-day practice riding session is scheduled from 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm on the date posted for this course. The practice riding session is held at MSU's Lot 60 located at 35 Clove Rd, Little Falls, NJ.
FAQs
Will I get my motorcycle license/endorsement from taking this course?
NO, unless you already took the BRC1 safety course or the BRC2 LW safety course within the last 180 days and did not pass the MSF Skill Test, and are taking this course for a few more hours of practice riding before taking the MSF Skill Test again.
What if I already took the MSF eCourse (Module 1)?
You do not need to take it again unless you want a refresher. However, we need the Completion Certificate ID#.
What do I need for the riding session (Module 2)?
As stated on the APBRC page on our website, you need the following;
1) Your valid photo ID Driver License.
2) A motorcycle endorsement unless you already took the BRC1 or the BRC2 LW within the last 180 days and are re-taking the MSF Skill Test.
3 ) If you are using your own 2-wheel motorcycle for the riding session, bring the registration card and insurance card.
4) Your eCourse Completion certificate or a picture of it.
5) If you are retaking the MSF Skill Test, we need paperwork that indicates when you took the BRC1 or the BRC2 LW and what your score was on the BRC1 or the BRC2 LW Knowledge Test. If you took the BRC1 or the BRC2 LW with another motorcycle school in NJ within the last 180 days and want to re-take the Skill Test after the APBRC, we need paperwork from that motorcycle school that indicates when you took the BRC1 or the BRC2 LW and what your score was on the BRC1 or the BRC2 LW Knowledge Test. YOU MUST HAVE TAKEN THE BRC1 COURSE OR THE BRC2 LW COURSE IF YOU WANT TO RETAKE THE MSF SKILL TEST.
7) Over-the-ankle footwear (leather preferred to protect your ankle from injury).
8) Durable long pants. (No light material pants & no holes in the pants. The sturdier the material, the more protection).
9) A long sleeve garment (shirt, sweat shirt, jacket).
10) Full-fingered gloves.
11) Eye-protection (glasses, sunglasses, goggles, face-shield).
12) Any DOT (Department of Transportation) motorcycle helmet. (We have some full-face motorcycle helmets available to rent if you do not have a motorcycle helmet).
You will not be allowed to ride the practice riding exercises unless you have all of the items listed above. (If you do not have all of the items listed above for the practice riding exercises, you will be dismissed from the class with a partial refund).
W hat if it rains on the day of the practice riding session?
The class is held rain or shine. Bring rain gear (rain jacket, rain pants, waterproof shoes, waterproof gloves, or wear latex gloves under your gloves) to keep you dry.
Do you offer any discount for this course?
There is a 10% rebate if you show us your RANJ (Riding Academy of NJ) BRC1 or RANJ BRC2 LW completion card. The rebate will be refunded on your credit card after completing the course.
What is your Refund policy?
Here's our Refund Policy, which is posted on the Refunds page of our website under "Policies" and which you will acknowledge that you read when registering for the course. It will also be in the confirmation email.
1. If we dismiss you from the practice riding session of the course for being late (you can't join the session once the session starts for liability reasons), or for not having all the proper riding gear as outlined on the APBRC page of our website, or for any other reason, we will refund you 50% of the course price. We reserve the right to dismiss a student from a class if they are struggling while riding a practice riding exercise, not able to keep up with the riding pace of the class, didn't meet the objective of a riding exercise within the time frame allotted for the exercise, are a safety hazard to themselves or others in the class or display signs or symptoms of not feeling well (including, but not limited to, anxious, nervous, fatigue, nausea, lightheaded, dizzy, weak, faint, shivering, numbness in the fingers or toes, hypothermia, hyperthermia, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, possible concussion). If you want to attend another APBRC, you will have to register online for another APBRC and pay the full course price again.
2. If you drop out of the riding session of the course, or have to drop out of the riding session of the course due to an injury, or do not show up for the riding session of the course, for whatever reason, we will refund you 50% of the course price. No exceptions. If you want to attend another APBRC, you will have to register online for another APBRC and pay the full course price again.
Cancellations
- If you contact us by email to cancel your class reservation at least 10 business days before the start of your scheduled class, we will refund the entire course price.
- If you contact us by email to cancel your class reservation less than 10 business days and more than 3 business days before the start of your scheduled class, we will refund the course price minus a $50 cancellation fee. No exceptions.
- If you contact us by email to cancel your class reservation 3 business days or less than 3 business days before the start of your scheduled class, we will refund 50% of the course price. No exceptions.
- We reserve the right to change the time schedule of a class or cancel a class at any time due to severe weather conditions, unforeseen circumstances, low enrollment, or last-minute events scheduled by MSU. Classes are conducted rain or shine. If rain is in the forecast for the class you registered for, bring rain gear (jacket, pants, latex gloves).
- If we have to cancel the class, we will refund the entire course price. If we have to cancel a segment of the class, we will give you a partial refund.
- Refunds can only be made to your original payment method.
- Ticket and rental fees are non-refundable.
All cancellation requests must be made in writing via email to [email protected] for verification purposes.
Switching/Transferring to a future APBRC is not permissible. If you registered for the APBRC and can not attend it for whatever reason, we will refund 50% of the course price. No exceptions.
Strict Policy: Our Refund Policy is very strict because we do not want to lose money on a class. Since we offer more benefits and features than all the other motorcycle schools in NJ, we run on a very small profit margin and cannot afford to lose money. If you miss a class, can't make a class, or arrive late to attend a class, we can't just put you in another class. That's like buying a seat in two different classes for the price of one seat.
If you have tickets to a sports game or concert and can't make the event for whatever reason, you don't get to go to another game or concert for free.
We lose money on last minute cancellation/rescheduling requests because we lose the ability to sell that seat to someone else on such short notice, and we lose money on the class.
We are very strict on having the proper riding gear for the riding session (the proper riding gear is stated on the APBRC page of our website) and on arriving on time for the riding sessions because you can't miss any safety information once a riding session starts for liability reasons.
