Anxiety and School Refusal: Identification and Intervention (NY)
About this Event
About the Event
Cases of school refusal and chronic absenteeism have risen significantly in recent years, with anxiety often playing a central role. Students may avoid school for a variety of reasons — including academic pressures, social challenges, emotional distress, separation concerns, or the perceived rewards of staying home. Because anxiety presents differently across developmental stages, it may appear as physical complaints, emotional dysregulation, behavioral difficulties, or declining functioning rather than obvious expressions of worry.
This workshop explores the complex drivers of school refusal and chronic absenteeism, examining evidence-based approaches to assessment and intervention.
