Generally, in life we tend to allow only 'good' thoughts to arise to the conscious perception; we accept and enjoy these pleasant thoughts but if an ‘unpleasant’, nasty or painful or ‘bad’ thought arises we tend to quickly push it back into the subconscious layers of the mind. This is suppression, everyone has mental suppressions; we are often conditioned to do it from childhood; but suppression is not the answer.
Every single thought we suppress remains unexpressed and causes a block in the free flow of the mind. These thoughts and experiences stay submerged in the subconscious realms of the mind in seed form, causing pain, unhappiness and frustrations in life. Without even realising it we build up a vast accumulation of suppressed thoughts which cause tension and subtle disturbance in the personality and this can lead to depression without obvious cause.
Antar Mouna is one of the most direct methods of tackling the mind and allows us to exhaust these thoughts, it purges the mind, it releases the mental tensions. Once these mental tensions are released, even slightly, then life begins to show new promise, new meaning begins to awaken.
Antar Mouna helps us to learn about ourselves, our hidden sides, our mind and its tendencies and to see how we are reacting to life’s situations in a clear and honest manner. Through a process of self-observation we can arrive at a point of self-acceptance which in turn allows us to develop true peace of mind.
Achyutananda was born in the UK and has dedicated over 30 years of his life to teaching yoga, the last 12 in Bulgaria. Being an official Emissary of the Bihar School of Yoga, he has taught throughout Europe, as well as in Australia, India and Iran.
Achyutananda’s teaching style conveys a depth and understanding of yoga that is accessible to everyone.
