Join the Waukesha County Land Conservancy for our Annual Meeting: Voices of the Land! The evening begins at 5 pm with informational tables, networking, and cocktails. At 6 pm, guests will enjoy a delicious dinner and hear from our guest speakers, including Annie Jones, who will share Indigenous Ways of Knowing about Wisconsin’s Tribal Nations.
This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow conservationists, staff, and board members. We encourage you to bring friends and family to introduce them to our organization and the important work we do for our local ecosystems and community.
This year’s theme, Voices of the Land, invites us to honor and reflect on the profound connections between people and place, recognizing that every protected land carries stories, history, and meaning that deserve to be heard and respected. We are deeply honored to welcome Annie Jones (Professor, Organization Development Specialist and Tribal Nations Liaison at UW-Madison) as our featured speaker through Badger Talks. Drawing on her work with Indigenous Ways of Knowing and the histories of Wisconsin’s Tribal Nations, Dr. Jones will guide us in understanding how these perspectives illuminate the relationships between people and the land. Her presentation will show us how listening to the land - its history, its needs, and the wisdom of those who have cared for it for generations - can deepen our approach to conservation, helping us act with greater respect, thoughtfulness, and shared responsibility.
