Friday, June 19th at Canal Place, Cumberland, MDThe free community Juneteenth festival featuring live music, food vendors, local businesses and a Kid Zone for families will be held from 1pm to 8pm.
On behalf of Allegany County NAACP Unit 7007, we are honored to invite you to attend our 2026 Juneteenth Festival—a powerful celebration of freedom, unity, and community. Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and serves as a reminder that freedom, though delayed, is always worth fighting for. As we approach our nation’s 250th anniversary, this moment calls us to reflect deeply on our shared history and recommit ourselves to building a more just and unified future. Allegany County holds a unique and meaningful place in that story. With its historical ties to the Underground Railroad, our community has long stood as a passage toward freedom and hope. This festival is not only a celebration but a continuation of that legacy.
Other events throughout the weekend:
Saturday, June 20 at Pine Avenue Playground
Our Pine Avenue Community Day will feature a basketball tournament, garden games, music and activities designed to bring neighbors together.
Sunday, June 21st at Metropolitan AME
A worship gathering will be a time for spiritual reflection, unity and gratitude as we close the weekend in fellowship.
All events are free and open to the public, ensuring accessibility for all members of our community.
