The 2026 Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series presents high-octane funk and soul on Thursday, July 2, with the Nappy Head Funk Army. This high‑energy funk collective was inducted into the Funk Hall of Fame for its powerful sound and role as global ambassadors of funk music. With deep roots in the New York City club scene and a direct musical lineage to George Clinton and the P‑Funk legacy, NHFA delivers live, in‑your‑face funk inspired by Parliament‑Funkadelic, Prince, Sly & The Family Stone and more. Often described as a direct musical descendant of George Clinton, Bootsy Collins and the P‑Funk All‑Stars, Nappy Head Funk Army carries the torch of classic funk while pushing it forward with electrifying performances and infectious energy.
The Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series brings the community together each summer through ten free, live outdoor concerts that celebrate music, connection and place. The series energizes Cumberland’s historic city center and showcases the Festival Grounds at Canal Place. With sweeping water views, gorgeous mountain scenery and a lively, welcoming atmosphere, Levitt AMP concerts have become a beloved gathering place to celebrate arts and culture in the tri-state western Maryland community.
Launched in 2023, the series features free, family‑friendly concerts showcasing artists from a wide range of musical genres. Each week brings the community together—neighbors, friends and visitors of all ages—for an evening that celebrates music, connection and the arts. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or a chair, invite friends and enjoy a vibrant summer tradition in the heart of Cumberland.
The Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series is supported in part by the Levitt Family Foundation, which partners with changemakers and nonprofits to strengthen the social fabric of communities in America through free, live music in outdoor public spaces. Presenting high-caliber talent and a broad array of music genres and cultural programming, Levitt concerts are welcoming, inclusive destinations where people of all ages and backgrounds come together. In 2026, the Levitt Family Foundation is supporting over 900 free concerts in 90+ towns and cities across the country, bringing joy to over a million people. In addition to supporting free concerts, the Foundation is dedicated to advancing vibrant music ecosystems through partnerships, field-building initiatives, and research. levitt.org
The Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series is supported by funding from Allegany County, City of Cumberland, Frostburg State University, and Cumberland Arts and Entertainment District.
Presented by CES at Frostburg State University, a department of the university dedicated to bringing diverse and multi-cultural performing artists to the tri-state region, in partnership with Allegany Arts Council, Loft 129, Allegany County, Maryland – The Mountain Side of Maryland (County Tourism) and Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority.
