About this Event
Anger and resentment about the past causes inflammation. Why does this matter? Because inflammation causes disease. It also keeps you stuck in an identity, story and stress state.
Do you ruminate about what could've been, the injustice, the hurt you didn't deserve and the blame (either put on you on others). Feeling the anger rising in your body, tension in your mucles and jaw, "I need to move on", you whisper, but the feeling dominates and becomes the focus.
The thing is, this anger and resentment don't make the situation better- in fact, your brain receives a signal that triggers a stress state especially if you are trying to suppress it and pretend all is fine when it's not. This is also suppressing your immune system.
This process also takes space and is stopping you from seeing what and who is out there, the possible connections, opportunities and more importantly.. PEACE OF MIND AND ACCEPTANCE.
Recognising what happened as unfair, not being ok with it but accepting it AS IS, perhaps even seeing a different perspective, is ANTI-INFLAMMATORY. Thinking about it no longer triggers tension, anger or anxiety rather a deep breath and a lightness in the body.
SO... HOW TO LET GO...
This day retreat will be a time for self-reflection, somatic practice, breath work and healing. We will work on dissecting specific resentments that are being carried. We will reframe our stories, experiences to facilitate re-wiring. Grieving is an integral part of healing but very few of us are taught how and what this actually looks like.
If you want to learn how to breathe, deepen your practice or are new to meditation and/or breath work this day is for you.
Dr Debar worked as a hospital doctor, in academic research as well as running the BHI Harvard affiliated course on the neuroscience of stress and resilience. She is a private GP and incorporates this in a holistic integrative way into her practice.
“We cannot simply talk ourselves out of stress we need to feel ourselves through it”.
Meditation and Breathwork are powerful and transformative especially when backed with science.
