About this Event

Henry David Thoreau was one of the most important and influential writers of the 19th Century. And while he isn't buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery, he was well acquainted with many of the literary and political figures who are.

Join Concord historian Richard Smith for a presentation about Henry Thoreau and some of his famous friends. The "Hermit of Walden Pond" wasn't such a hermit after all. Longfellow, Charles Sumner and Margaret Fuller are just some of the notable figures who are buried here that Thoreau knew and associated with. And he even liked some of them!

Following the lecture, Richard will lead a walk to see some of the graves of notable figures.
