United By Hope – Sioux Falls United Methodists
All Sioux Falls United Methodist Churches will be "United By Hope" in one worship time at one location on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Bring friends and neighbors for inspiring worship, shared community, and a complimentary lunch at The Alliance (1600 W. Russell St.).
NO WORSHIP at ASBURY UMC or any other United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls.
*Backpack Blessing - students, teachers, staff.
*Baptisms & Baptism remembrance.
*Inspiring Worship - Bishop Lannette Plambeck preaching.
*Offering for Hungry Hearts - Hot lunches for students.
*Activities for Kids.
*Free Lunch following worship.
Join us as we commit to serving our public schools through an offering and ongoing partnerships. Bishop Lanette Plambeck will share a message of hope. We will pray over our students, teachers, and staff through a backpack blessing, so bring your school backpacks. There will be an opportunity for baptism and rededication through baptism remembrances. There will be games and activities for children following worship!
Our offering will benefit Hungry Hearts – a local organization that raises funds to ensure that no child goes hungry in the Sioux Falls School District. Hungry Hearts is 100% volunteer-run and every dollar they raise helps pay for school lunches through the School District’s Angel Fund. Mark Fonder, owner of The Barrel House and president of Hungry Hearts, said, “With the rising costs of everything else, it’s going to be harder and harder for all these kids to make sure they get fed at home, and the least we can do is try and provide them with a lunch at school.” Jesse Severson, vice president of Hungry Hearts said, “We’re just here to make sure kids eat. They can’t listen to their teachers if they’re listening to their stomachs.”
United Methodists across Sioux Falls will be "United By Hope" as we share in worship, community, and service in Jesus’ name on Sunday, August 24. We believe our time together has the potential to provide a powerful witness to Jesus Christ for the Sioux Falls area! There will not be any worship services at Asbury that day. Please make every possible effort to attend this special day!
