Barter Rules & Guidelines

To ensure a smooth experience, all participants must agree to these core tenets:

Zero Cash Policy: Absolutely no currency, digital payments (Venmo/CashApp), or "cash-plus-trade" deals allowed.

Valuation: Participants should establish a "fair market value" for their items beforehand to find equitable trades.

Condition: All goods must be clean, functional, and in good repair.

Service Contracts: For service-based trades (e.g., 2 hours of yard work for a vintage lamp), provide simple written agreement templates to document the deal and timeline.

Legal & Tax Considerations

IRS Reporting: Note that the IRS considers bartering taxable income; participants should be reminded to track the fair market value of trades for their own records.

Liability: Include a basic waiver in the registration form stating that the organizers are not responsible for the quality of traded goods or the fulfillment of service agreements
