April 23 at 18:00 in the Bauhaus Center.
Roman Grigoriev - art scientist guardian of Dutch engraving in the Hermitage (1992–2022) professor at the European University in Saint Petersburg (2000–2023).
Let's talk about Sandro Botticelli - one of the greatest artists of the early Italian Renaissance about Florence at the end of the 15th century about its rulers - the nuvorish-roasting Medici and about their unforgivable enemy - the ferocious Savonarola. Let's analyze the artists - Botticelli's colleagues their models and their customers. From worship in church and palazzo to accusations of satanic indoctrination and sin incarnate we discuss then's attitudes to works of art. Finally we will find out who Botticelli competed with in creating his now famous paintings and who did he allow himself to "populate" these works (besides himself of course).
