About this Event

PARENTS/MENTORS/GUESTS - WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US November 22 at CLUETT HALL at St Paul's School for the "Runner in Red" Resiliency Workshop, a fun, informative and engaging session designed to support teen and family resiliency.

The workshop gives girls and boys GRADES 7 TO 12 a chance to identify resiliency strengths they develop from sports and physical activity - including values and skills - and appy them to perform at their peak, achieve goals and meet challenges in sports, school - and life.

We're grateful to the Village of Garden City for offering to host us at St. Paul's. And grateful to our sponsors, including Hilton Capital Management, Family and Children's Association, Macerich and Dick's for all their support, and to the Garden City chapter of National Charity League for helping us launch this workshop series in 2025.

Now we'e eager to expand the scope!

This video shows how the workshop works to teach resiliency through sports at a time when teen mental health is a national issue. In addition, parents will be able to take the lessons home to support the resiliency of their families:

26.8 million teens in America play sprorts. The Runner in Red workshop teaches young people how to codifty "bounce back" lessons they learn from sports into a resileincy "tool set" they can apply for empowerment and set themselves on a pathway to success in life.

We invite parents, mentors and guests to join us to serve as "listening agents" and provide feedback and support as the instruction takes the teens through a five-step process to create a personal "map" for health and resiliency modeled on a 5K run.

The workshop will be conducted by Tom Murphy, author of "Runner in Red," a Boston Marathon mystery novel and founder of the Runner in Red Foundation, a Garden City-based 501c3 charity.) We'll show parents how to adapt the lessons in the workshop to support the resiliecy of their famiies for those who would like that option.

We're offering $500 in prizes to the teens from Dick's Sporting Goods.

Feel free to tell your friends and invite them to register. But space is limited so register early.

Visit RunnerinRed.com for full details on the novel, the resiliency workshop and our charity foundation's goals.

PS. Once you register, ignore where the system talks in terms of "tickets." Once you register, you're all set - you won't need a ticket.

Be sure to click "Reserve a Spot" at the top right to start the process and we'll be in touch. Space is limited, register early!

Any questions, don't hesitate to reach out Tom Murphy at [email protected].
