Reflection of Liberty- Personal Exhibition of Natalka Barvinok
**Welcome to My Creative World!**
I am Natalka Barvinok, an artist from Ukraine with over four decades of experience. My work explores the realms of surrealism and impressionism, creating visual narratives that intertwine reality and imagination.
My creative name “Barvinok ” is inspired by the periwinkle flower, a symbol of Ukrainian culture known for its incredible vitality. Despite its delicate appearance, this small flower thrives in harsh conditions, never losing its shape. It blooms in early spring and represents the strength and vitality that our ancestors admired.
**About the Exhibition:**
Reflecting Freedom is a philosophical exploration of freedom through art. This solo exhibition features paintings, drawings, mixed media works, and paper sculptures created while I lived in the United States. Each piece reflects my journey and the essence of freedom, combining surrealism and impressionism to capture the beauty of fleeting moments and the depth of the human psyche.
**Art Style:**
Through surrealism, I immerse myself in dreams and emotions that go beyond logic, turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. My impressionistic techniques capture the spontaneity of moments, using vibrant colors and dynamic brush strokes to evoke sensations and emotions. Together, these styles bridge the tangible and intangible, inviting viewers to question their perceptions and embrace the beauty of the ephemeral. **Philosophy of Freedom:**
My art is a celebration of freedom – freedom of thought, self-expression, and existence. It is a journey into the unknown, where reality merges with fantasy, and the boundaries between consciousness and the subconscious are erased. Through my work, I aim to spark curiosity, provoke introspection, and evoke a sense of wonder.
**About My Journey:**
Born and raised in Ukraine, my creative journey began with a childhood dream of becoming an artist, which came true after graduating from art college. While teaching at the same art school I once attended, I shared my knowledge and vision with young, up-and-coming artists. This mutual exchange fostered creativity and resulted in awards in various art competitions, both locally and internationally. I moved to America nine years ago when an armed conflict began in Ukraine, which subsequently escalated into a full-scale war. This turbulent period profoundly influenced my life and art. Amidst this terrible war, I strive to portray hope and the strength of the human spirit, moments of goodness, and beauty. These works of art serve as a powerful reminder that even in the darkest times, there is a glimmer of hope and a desire for a free world. The war in my homeland has deepened my exploration of freedom and resilience. In my art, I strive to reflect the strength and spirit of free people.
