The Brainstorm Series and Community Safety Network are bringing author, artist, and activist Chanel Miller to Jackson’s Center for the Arts on April 23rd to speak about storytelling and empowerment. In preparation, Teton County Library and Community Safety Network will be offering a book club discussion on April 7th at 6PM in the auditorium of Teton County Library.
“Chanel Miller’s Know my Name is an exceptional personal narrative of a sexual assault survivor’s experience trying to heal while also navigating the criminal justice system. Miller’s writing is striking, honest, and relatable. You will laugh and cry, for sure, but more than that, you’ll stand in awe of her ability to put into words her experience of everything from pain, shame, and victim-blaming, to empowerment, hope and strength,” says Adrian Croke, Director of Education and Outreach at Community Safety Network. Whether you’ve read the book years ago and are looking for discussion, you’ve never picked it up before, or you’re looking to re-read, join us in our discussion on April 7th. Free tickets for Chanel Miller’s speaking event will be available on March 14th at 10AM on The Center’s website. The Brainstorm Speaker Series is a series of free events presented by Jackson Hole News&Guide, Teton County Library, and The Center featuring trailblazers who are renowned in their fields and are known for sparking ideas and inspiring conversation. Support for the series also comes from Teton County Library Foundation and Friends.
Community Safety Network empowers those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking through crisis support, advocacy and prevention and is so genuinely excited to be partnering with the Brainstorm Series to be bringing Chanel Miller to Jackson Hole.
