“(Bitter)sweet History: 18th Century Chocolate and the American Revolution,” a special presentation by Michele GabrielsonHedge Carriage House, 126 Water Street | 1 p.m. | $20 per person
Join us for a unique and engaging presentation by historian and educator Michele Gabrielson, exploring the remarkable role that chocolate played in the events leading up to the American Revolution. Michele will guide you on a journey from “bean to beverage,” using authentic 18th-century objects. This program also celebrates Hannah Jackson, the first resident of our Spooner House, who brewed and sold chocolate from the home in the mid-18th century. A sampling of colonial-style chocolate, similar to what would have been enjoyed by Plymoutheans in Hannah Jackson’s time will be offered to enhance the experience.
