(Student price 10GBP – contact [email protected] for this discount)

On 11 July 2026, The Hybrid Tours will be hosting an event from 2–4pm at Kismet Café in London, to commemorate Srebrenica and the wider Bosnian Genocide.

Join us for a conversation with Safet Vukalić, a survivor of the Bosnian Genocide, as he shares his story in his own words and speaks about the lasting effects of the genocide. This event is a space to stand in solidarity with survivors, commemorate victims, and stand against genocide denial. It is also a powerful opportunity to humanise the statistics behind the Bosnian Genocide.

A percentage of all ticket sales will be donated to the Bosnian Genocide Educational Trust

Introducing Safet Vukalić

Safet Vukalić BEM was born in Prijedor, Bosnia. In 1992, his father and older brother were taken to the Keraterm concentration camp; Safet, then sixteen, narrowly avoided the same fate. He and his family were forcibly displaced from Prijedor and were reunited in the UK by 1994.

Today, Safet lives in London with his wife and two children. Awarded the British Empire Medal for his work in genocide education, he speaks widely across UK schools, universities, and public institutions about Prijedor and the importance of remembrance.

Art as Memory

Alongside the conversation, for a limited time from 11–31 July, you will be able to view Nermina Memić's artwork Opomena(Warning), offering another language for memory, one that speaks where words sometimes cannot. Her illustrations honour victims of the genocide, both those who died and those who survived to carry the truth forward.

Through these illustrations, Nermina hopes to keep this warning alive, a lesson made urgent by the reality that Bosniaks continue to face attacks today, even in peacetime, as the aggressor's original goal remains unfinished.
