Join The Briar Patch for an evening with author Kate Woodworth in conversation with Deborah Lee Luskin about writing, books and their latest work. Kate is the author of LITTLE GREAT ISLAND as well as the recently re-released RACING INTO THE DARK, as well as others. Deborah is the author of the novel INTO THE WILDERNESS as well as REVIVING ARTEMIS. The event will be held at BookSpace located at 48 Columbia Street in Bangor on Wednesday, August 5 at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30pm.
ABOUT KATE WOODWORTH
Kate Woodworth is the award-winning author of the novels Little Great Island and Racing into the Dark and the creative force behind the grassroots climate change initiative, Be the Butterfly, that invites everyone to perform one small act or behavioral change to help mitigate climate change. A passionate lover of the natural world, Kate writes about the impact of climate change on our food supply on her Substack, “Food in the Time of Climate Change.” She has appeared on C-Span2 Book TV; Good Morning, Utah; NPR’s Maine Calling; and Good Day, Maine, and her essays on climate fiction and the role of fiction writers in the climate discourse have been published by the Climate Fiction Writers League.

Deborah Lee Luskin moved from New York City to Vermont in 1984 to write, garden, keep bees, and raise daughters. She has been an editorial columnist, radio commentator, pen-for-hire, and blogger. Her first novel, Into the Wilderness, won the Independent Publishers Gold Medal for Regional Fiction and is now available in a second edition. Her blog, Living in Place, can be found on Substack. A veteran educator, she facilitates the on-going Rosefire Writing Circle, a place to write in community and with support. For more than 35 years, The Briar Patch has inspired and delighted generations of readers of all ages in Bangor, Maine. Specializing in children's books and creative playthings from birth through high school, the shop also carries grownup books including fiction, cookbooks, titles on parenting, resources for teachers and more. Games, crafts, puzzles, and more fill the store with something for everyone. We also host regular book signings, storytimes and other events.
