About this Event
Poets Joe Survant, Kathleen Gregg, and Gaylord Brewer will read from their recent Accents Publishing books and take part in a Q&A moderated by publisher Katerina Stoykova.
About the Authors:
Joe Survant is Professor Emeritus at Western Kentucky University. He is the author of eight collections of poems, most recently, The Stone (Accents Publishing, 2026). He is the winner of the Miller Williams Poetry Prize from the University of Arkansas Press and a recipient of grants from the Kentucky Arts Council, The Asia Foundation, the Fulbright Foundation, and the NEH. Individual poems have been published in Malaysia, China, Japan, Singapore and the U.K., as well as in the U.S. He served as Kentucky's Poet Laureate 2002 – 2004.
Kathleen Gregg is the author of Soliloquy to the Night Sky (Accents Publishing, 2026). She is an active member of the Kentucky State Poetry Society, having served as treasurer for four years. Kathleen graduated from the Author Academy program at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning in Lexington, Kentucky, during which time she was mentored by Jeff Worley, Kentucky Poet Laureate (2019-2021). Her poetry has appeared in The Louisville Review, Pine Mountain Sand & Gravel, Coming of Age Anthology Vols 1 & 2 and Yearling, to name a few.
The most recent of Gaylord Brewer's eighteen books of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, criticism, and cookery is Goodbye, Baby (Accents Publishing, 2026). His poems have appeared in Best American Poetry and The Bedford Introduction to Literature. Brewer was awarded a Tennessee Arts Commission Fellowship in 2009. He is a native of Louisville, Kentucky, earned a Ph.D. from Ohio State University, and has been a professor at Middle Tennessee State University for more than three decades.
A Bulgarian by birth, Katerina Stoykova is a bilingual poet living in Kentucky and is the author of Between a Bird Cage and a Bird House (University Press of Kentucky, 2024) and The Poet's Guide to Publishing: How to Conceive, Arrange, Edit, Publish and Market a Book of Poetry (McFarland, 2024). Katerina is the founder and senior editor of Accents Publishing, as well as the creator of the Accents podcast on WUKY. Katerina is the 2025-2026 President of the Kentucky State Poetry Society.
