Bud Rokesky is bringing his new album to our famous Full Throttle stage, so grab a plate (or two), get comfortable, and enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet while soaking up some amazing new music!
Australian alt-country favourite Bud Rokesky returns with his first new music in over a year with the single “Hey Now”, out now via Rainbow Valley Records / Warner Music Australia. The track captures the fragile push and pull of love, pairing devotion with exhaustion through the haunting refrain, “hey now baby, don’t you hate me now.”
Bud explains the song explores moments where love feels close at heart but distant in every other way — trying to hold on when things feel out of your control, while leaving space for listeners to find their own story in it.
“Hey Now” follows a run of A-side/B-side releases in early 2024 including Runaway, She Flies, Oil On To The Fire, Mary Valley and Beer Number 5, showcasing Bud’s blend of country, alt-country/folk and alt-rock influences.
His 2023 debut album Outsider, produced by Matt Corby and Alex Henriksson at Rainbow Valley Studios, earned strong support from CMT, Double J and ABC Country, with praise comparing Bud’s storytelling style to artists like Springsteen, Orville Peck and Waylon Jennings.
Bud has since toured with artists including Cedric Burnside, Brad Cox, Meg Washington and Matt Corby, and performed at major festivals such as Bluesfest, Gympie Music Muster, Woodford Folk Festival and Tamworth Country Music Festival.
