The Gone Ghosts is an Alt-Country Americana/Rock band from Carrboro NC, formed by singer/guitarist and songwriter Dave Hedeman and bassist Dillon Partin from The Vagabond Union. Joined by singer/guitarist Justin Bowlin and drummer Scott Jones.Nights of late-night, beer-driven jamming around on any Tom Petty song they could think of led Winston-Salem’s Crenshaw Pentecostal into breaking away from a backing band role for a solo artist in 2017. Dusty Redmon (Beloved/The Almost), Brian Norris (Ross Coppley/Deals on Bombs), and Zach Tilley began working up their sound of dirty Americana-tinged rock and roll and wound up sharing stages with Bon Jovi, Gin Blossoms, Old 97s, Futurebirds, Tyler Bryant, and lots more. Jeremy Smith (John Mark McMillan/Thousand Dollar Movie) and Drew Ely (Eno Mountain Boys) completed the lineup, giving the band a real “Heartbreakers meets the Replacements” vibe.
Rebecca Porter, originally from Guam and now based in Harrisonburg, Virginia, brings raw authenticity to her music, defined by her honey-smooth voice and sharp, irreverent songwriting. Her lyrics courageously explore personal themes such as trauma, discrimination as a Pacific Islander woman in rural Virginia, and the complex challenges of motherhood.
Her musical journey began over a decade ago as a member of local cover bands, where she honed her skills and gained local acclaim. However, it was during the pandemic that Porter redirected her creative energy, eventually releasing two EPs: "Prime Rainbow Conditions" and "Queen of the Local." The latter marked a pivotal move towards independence, propelling Porter to national and international recognition through her grassroots efforts.
