All About Bees: Honey Tasting & Hive Tour [ALL AGES]

Weather permitting, a hive-opening tour of our apiary is included. Participants are welcome to pack a picnic to enjoy on the land before or after class.

About the Beekeeper:
Ryan Sanders is a hobbyist beekeeper with approximately six years of experience. He currently manages about 10 hives on his property in Knoxville, MD, and assists his brother with hives in Kearneysville, WV. Recently, he has taken on the exciting opportunity to establish hives at Fox Haven Farm. Beyond beekeeping, Ryan enjoys fixing cars and motorcycles, spending time with his pets, camping, biking, and a wide range of outdoor activities.

Co-taught by Harriett Harris

Harriet Harris is the founder of BaltiSpore, a Baltimore-based company specializing in functional mushroom products that promote health and wellness. Their passion for fungi began during their studies at Washington State University and deepened upon returning to Maryland, where they explored the therapeutic benefits of mushrooms, particularly for cognitive and immune health. In addition to their work with BaltiSpore, Harriet is an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, studying Agricultural Science and Technology with a minor in Entomology. They have contributed to research on honey bee anatomy and actively engage in beekeeping and insect education. Through their entrepreneurial, academic, and outreach efforts, Harriet is dedicated to exploring and sharing the benefits of fungi, bees, and the natural world.
