The Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks presents their third in a series of presentations about the architects who helped create Wausau’s unique architectural heritage on Saturday, March 7, at 1:30 pm at the Marathon Public Library - Wausau Headquarters (Community Room)
Alexander Eschweiler’s legacy can be seen in our neighborhood's historic districts. In the Andrew Warren historic district is the Claire Bird house at 522 McIndoe Street in the Tudor style. The Mediterranean style of the D.C. Everest home in the East Hill District is stand out.
The most noted local commercial designs include the Judging Pavilion, cattle barns, and the original grandstands in Marathon Park. These buildings helped define the look and feel of our city’s most recognizable park and fair grounds.
Explore the life of Eschweiler, his architectural career, and a closer look at some of the buildings he designed in Wausau, Milwaukee, and beyond. Learn about his life from his time as an independent architect to the creation of Eschweiler and Eschweiler when his sons joined the firm.
This presentation is not sponsored by the Marathon County Public Library.
