San Diego-based guitarist Alex Ciavarelli is a dynamic voice in the modern jazz scene, known for his lyrical phrasing, masterful technique, and deep reverence for jazz tradition. A graduate of San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies, Alex brings both scholarly insight and soulful expression to every performance.

In 2024, Alex released his acclaimed debut album, “A Tribute to Oscar Peterson on Guitar,” reimagining the legendary pianist’s work with fresh, guitar-driven interpretations. The project showcases his ability to translate complex harmonic language and swing-era virtuosity into a uniquely personal sound.

Alex has toured extensively across the U.S., performing in a range of straight-ahead jazz and gypsy jazz ensembles. Whether playing solo or with a group, his style is a vibrant blend of influences—including Joe Pass, Andreas Oberg, Oscar Peterson, Pat Martino, and George Benson—all filtered through his own artistic lens.

Active as a freelance musician throughout San Diego and Southern California, Alex Ciavarelli continues to captivate audiences with performances that are both technically dazzling and emotionally resonant. His playing speaks to seasoned jazz lovers and newcomers alike—swinging hard, digging deep, and always telling a story.
