About this Event
Mya-Rose is a British Bangladeshi ornithologist, environmentalist, diversity activist as well as a writer, speaker and broadcaster. She is one of the UKβs leading young voices in climate and environmental justice, campaigning for equal access to nature and greater inclusion in environmental spaces. She has spoken alongside global changemakers and continues to advocate for action on climate change, biodiversity loss, and the rights of Indigenous communities.
The keynote will set the stage for a dynamic panel conversation, offering a range of insights into the role of universities, NGOs, and grassroots movements in advancing climate justice and broadening access to nature. The discussion will be followed by an opportunity for audience Q&A and a networking reception.

Talk description:
Nature, Climate Justice and Access: Reimagining Who Environmentalism Is For
The climate and biodiversity crises are deeply interconnected with issues of social justice, access, and representation. In this talk, Dr Mya-Rose Craig draws on her journey as a young birder and activist to explore how environmental movements can become more inclusive and equitable.
Reflecting on her work with Black2Nature and her global advocacy, she highlights the barriers that prevent many communities from accessing nature and participating in environmental action. She also shares powerful insights into how climate justice must centre diverse voices, particularly those from underrepresented and Indigenous communities.
This talk challenges us to rethink who environmentalism is for and how we can build a more inclusive, just, and effective movement for the future.
