Menagerie Theatre Company are excited to start our tour of 'Albatross', by 2025 George Devine Prize Winner Martha Loader, at the Mercury Theatre this Aprul 28th/29th!'Albatross' takes us to the very boundaries of love in the age of climate catastrophe.
Alice (Caroline Rippin), a successful scientist, returns from a gruelling Antarctic trip, to her daughter Alba and her mother Eve. There’s been a flood, a new romance and now a strange gift. It’s 1.30am. Alba sleeps. Eve (Agnes Lillis) has never been more awake. And Alice? Maybe those cracks she discovered in the Antarctic ice have followed her home. And maybe they’re also calling her to go back…
'Albatross' explores how we mess up when we just want to make things better. It is explosive, tender and often hilarious. It reveals the human heart to be more vulnerable than we hope but stronger than we believe. And throughout it all, the burning question – what does one generation owe the next?
