Alaskan Mushing Continuing Education Event
Join us for a truly unforgettable Continuing Education Event set in the extraordinary wilderness of Alaska, held just one hour north of Anchorage International Airport.
This event combines high-level continuing education with an immersive experience alongside iconic canine athletes from the world-famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race. When not engaging in interactive lectures and case-based discussions led by renowned experts hand-picked by VetPD, you will have the opportunity to experience the thrill of travelling through the Alaskan wilderness by dogsled.
Optional activities also include ice fishing, flightseeing around Denali, guided glacier hiking and climbing tours, as well as backcountry snowmobile or bike adventures.
Experience the Thrill of Dog Sledding
On Sunday afternoon, attendees will learn the basics of handling sled dogs, including harnessing and preparing the teams, before embarking on a 1½–2-hour wilderness ride to experience travelling by dogsled first-hand.
This introductory adventure sets the stage for an even more memorable experience: a half-day sled dog expedition on either Monday or Tuesday afternoon, during which attendees will have the opportunity to drive their own sled and team of dogs through the breathtaking Alaskan wilderness.
Few experiences compare to leaving civilisation behind and gliding through snow-covered landscapes, guided by some of the world’s most elite canine athletes — the racing Alaskan sled dog.
Optional Alaskan Adventures
On your free afternoon, Monday or Tuesday depending on group assignment, and especially on the final day from 10:00 am onwards, a variety of optional outdoor activities are available, including:
Ice fishing
Flightseeing around Denali
Guided glacier hiking and climbing tours
Backcountry snowmobile adventures
Fat-bike excursions
These activities are not included in the event fee and must be booked directly with the individual providers listed under the Travel Information tab.
Whether you choose to mush, fly, climb, or hike, you’ll experience parts of Alaska that very few people ever get to see.
