About this Event

Airports are the capital of goodbyes. Yet, we rarely stop to think about how we perform them. In this workshop, teaching artist Simeen Anjum will lead us in an exploration of the unique, often overlooked ways we part ways, investigating how the ritual shifts depending on the situation, the relationship, and the borders we are about to cross. You’ll leave with a toolkit of new perspectives, ready to face the next gate with a bit more humor and a lot more presence.

Registration is recommended, but not required. Please register at .

About the teaching artist: Simeen Anjum (she/her) is an artist exploring the different ways that move around in the world and the systems and structures that shape our paths.Through participatory research and workshops, she examines our relationships with overlooked markers that influence our movement: hostile architecture, postal codes, passports and visas, maps, nation state borders and airports. Her work attempts to initiate conversations that can facilitate new possibilities of being, becoming and belonging in a time of repression. Simeen holds an MFA in Art and Social Practice from Portland State University.
