The Battle of Barnet in 1471 was not only a turning point in the Wars of Roses, when the Earl of Warwick was killed, but it also saw John III Paston wounded. Caught on the wrong side of the civil war, the Pastons retreated back home, licking their wounds and preparing to seek forgiveness from King Edward IV. Join us at Henricus as we discuss the military preparations for, and actions taken during the battle, which includes arming John III, viewing an archery demonstration, and even watching the cannon-demonstration as we fire off our new gun for the first time at Henricus. In addition to the military experiences, you can also see the creation of medieval medicines, dyeing wool, and cooking medieval meals during the springtime.
