Afro-Talks Afrobeats and Artist Talks
About this Event
Join The ZD Experience and Drummond Studio Gallery for AFRO-TALKS, a new conversation experience where art, music, and culture come together to spark meaningful dialogue.
Set to Afrobeats and house music by DJ NorWay, this intimate evening features acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Marowa Mosai (Alexandria Taylor) and her newest exhibition exploring the universal language of motherhood.
Centered on the idea that “mother” transcends culture and language, the exhibition reflects on pregnancy, postpartum, identity, transformation, and the many ways women experience motherhood.
Following a guided conversation with the artist, guests are invited to share their own reflections during an open community discussion, accompanied by curated wine samplings from Fermented Vines.
Come for the art. Stay for the conversation. Connect through culture.
AFRO-TALKS is an evening of art, music, storytelling, and community.
Known professionally as Morowa Mosai (“Queen Mosaic”), Alexandria is an Afrocentric artist whose work is rooted in her Caribbean and African American heritage. Through portraiture and expressive abstract works in acrylic, oil, and digital media, she celebrates the beauty, resilience, and excellence of Black identity. Her work has been featured at Spoleto Festival USA, exhibited throughout Charleston, and includes several public murals and community art initiatives across the city.
