African Bead Making Event

Join the North End Christian CDC as we come together to celebrate the power of communal love and the pride that comes with being "unapologetically Black" on February 13. On this significant day in 1993, Ayo Handy-Kendi, a passionate community organizer and native of Washington, D.C., established Black Love Day—a powerful celebration deeply rooted in the Black community. While February 13 is not officially recognized as a federal holiday, Black Love Day continues to be an important occasion to honor, express pride in, and reflect on the rich heritage of Black identity and culture.

This year, we invite you to join us in a hands-on celebration by crafting beautiful bracelets and necklaces using beads sourced directly from the renowned Dabls Mbad African Bead Museum. This special activity not only connects us to the artistry and deep cultural significance of African traditions but also serves as a tangible expression of Black love, unity, and pride. Come share in this moment of reflection, creativity, and solidarity as we uplift and celebrate the beauty of Blackness together.
