About this Event
QUB's ÆRN: Affect and Emotion Research Network invites you to a workshop on the topic of 'affect, emotion, and the politics of crisis.' The event features presentations by network members, and a keynote address by leading international scholar on the politics of emotion, Prof. Deborah Gould (University of California, Santa Cruz).
Prof. Gould is author of the award-winning Moving Politics: Emotion and Act Up's Fight Against Aids. Her keynote talk will be on the following:
What Now? Affect and the Question of Composition
Organized around three central concepts—composition, affect, and structures of feeling—this talk offers an affective read of the current conjuncture and asks about the tasks of a left organizing project amid what I will argue is an open moment.
This event is free, but spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. We also plan on making the event hybrid, with details on online participation (including registration for online) to follow.
The event is supported by a QUB Faculty Reserach Initiatives Award and by QUB Illuminate funding.
For queries, please contact the workshop organisers, Dr. Jonathan Heaney ([email protected]) and Dr. Clara Fischer ([email protected])
All welcome!
