About this Event

The Architecture Foundation of British Columbia (AFBC) is excited to launch its new False Creek Walking Tour. Join us to explore the architecture, urban design, public spaces, and public art that have transformed False Creek into one of Vancouver's most celebrated waterfront communities.

Beginning in False Creek North, the tour follows the seawall, crosses the Cambie Street Bridge, and loops through False Creek South to the Olympic Village. Along the way, you'll discover how innovative planning, architecture, and landscape design have reshaped Vancouver's former industrial shoreline into vibrant and livable neighbourhoods.

Through engaging stories and interpretation, we'll explore topics including city planning, architecture's role in defining neighbourhood identity, nature in urban environments, placemaking through public art, and the enduring influence of water on Vancouver's history and development.

Meeting Spot:

Please meet at 1300 Pacific Boulevard, at the southeast intersection of Pacific Boulevard and Drake Avenue on the park side.

Tour Route:

We will start at David Lam Park and make our way along False Creek to the Olympic Village.

Duration:

This tour will take approximately 2 hours.

Accessibility:

This tour will involve moderate walking and standing for the entire duration of the tour. This route will also involve descending stairs, but no stair climbing is required.

• Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the tour. The tour will begin promptly at the start time. We will not be able to wait for late parties.
• We ask you leave your pets and strollers at home
• Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult
• The tour will be offered rain or shine! If we do get some liquid sunshine, rain jackets are preferred to umbrellas due to group size and navigating the sidewalks
