Adventure Awaits - Kayaking in the Beautiful World of Aquatic Plants

Join us on an educational tour about the aquatic flora in Winding Waters Natural Area. Plants are beautiful organisms that do so much for life on our planet. Many people pay thousands of dollars to add plants to their yards. We hear about roses, palms, and sunflowers… but what about eel grass, bladderwort, and coontail? This event will involve looking into the underwater gardens that few people get to enjoy. We will talk about both native and invasive aquatic plants and their affect on important ecosystem. Polarized glasses recommended. Depending on the water levels, we may paddle up to three miles.

The meet up location is at the parking lot: 6161 N Haverhill Rd, West Palm Beach, FL 33407. Please note that there are restroom facilities at nearby Dyer Park.

Kayaks provided are all single kayaks, therefore, this event is not recommended for children that cannot paddle alone.

WHAT TO BRING:

• Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty/wet.
• Bring water sun protection and bug spray
• Bring water and a water bottle.
• Be prepared for a fun, wet outdoor activity. Don’t forget to bring water, sunscreen, a dry bag and comfortable, appropriate clothing that will get wet.

Please, no pets or unaccompanied minors.
