Advanced paediatric oncology study and SACT update day

This course is for nurses who have previoulsy attended the paediatric oncology foundation study day and are working in Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Unit (POSCUS) who share care with Southamton General Hospital only.

This course aims to provide you with the opportunity to explore and understand more advanced nursing implications and care related to working with children or young people with a cancer diagnosis. Topics sometimes covered in this day:

• insight in to the complex issues surrounding childhood cancer

• clinical oncology emergencies and how they are treated and managed

• identify and understand new therapies and trials being introduced

If you are SACT comeptant, this will also be your annual SACT update

On completion of the course, you should have built on your current knowledge of the care involved in treating patients with a childhood cancer.
