About this Event

This lecture explores unique and demanding applications of high-horsepower diesel engines across diverse sectors, including Dynamic Rotary UPS systems, large mining trucks and heavy equipment, railway locomotives, defense platforms, and amphibious vehicles. These applications require exceptional reliability, efficiency, and adaptability under extreme operating conditions such as high altitudes, severe temperatures, and harsh terrains. The lecture will highlight the engineering challenges, innovative design strategies, and performance considerations that enable diesel engines to power critical operations in some of the most unforgiving environments on Earth.

This is a joint lecture with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Amit Kumar is a Technical Territory Manager at Cummins based in Darlington, UK, with extensive expertise in high-horsepower diesel engine applications. A Chartered Engineer and active member of the IMechE, he is passionate about promoting STEM education and inspiring future engineers through mentorship and outreach initiatives.
