This a really practical and informative course run by people who are passionate about game meat and its preparation. The course will be delivered by Terry from The Combe Martin Farm Shop, a very experienced butcher who's passionate about all types of game meat. If you're in the area it's well worth popping into the farm shop to check out the tasty treats on offer. Each participant will leave with half an Exmoor Red or Fallow deer that they have broken down into a variety of different cuts, from roasting joints to steaks and dice - all under the expert guidance of Terry. It’s a surprising amount of meat you end up with so make sure to bring a big cool box with you to take it home in.
Hot and cold drinks will be provided throughout the day, and a lunch of local, wild venison will also be provided.
As well as learning new skills and going home with lots of delicious venison...any money we make from this course helps to support the free opportunities we provide to children and families in the local area, so thank you!
The course cost is £185 per person - which is excellent value considering the value of the venison you'll leave with would cost significantly more than this if you bought it yourself. If you'd like to bring a partner that is fine, we just ask for a £20 contribution to cover, insurance, cleaning, lunch etc.
