Tokoro Wohnen

(Bing Industries Album Release on Flaming Pines)

Bing Industries - CD/Digital
The Bing Industries is composed of various improvisation sessions by the sound art duo Tokoro Wohnen ( and ).

Beth Robertson is a sound and radio artist from Glasgow. Through field recordings, guitar and spoken word, she creates compositions that explore local ecologies through feminist narratives and investigate collective listening as a form of environmental activism.

Martyn Riley is a London-based artist whose work is defined by collaboration and a playful approach to exploring themes of memory, decay, and found objects; often incorporating sound. Over the past decade, he has curated experimental music events and performed with various collaborators. His practice includes presenting installations that blend diverse media such as tapes, sculpture, and photography; all centred around storytelling and evoking memories.

Kate Carr

Kate Carr's practice explores the encounters, textures and technologies entangled with field recording - through movement, the collecting of objects as performance tools, and experimental recording techniques. Working across composition, performance and installation, she draws on vibrations from cars and footfalls, overheard murmurs, public speeches, music in public space and the distant roar of sporting events.

Increasingly she examines the ambiguities of field recording, blurring live foley with field recording techniques. She builds and performs with instruments assembled from discarded objects - scientific rockers, massage guns, bird horns, frog rattles, bug clickers, noise boxes made from rubbish and rubber bands - troubling the claims to authenticity attached to field recording and its supposed opposition to the fictions of foley.

Carr performs across the UK and Europe. She runs the imprint Flaming Pines and is in the duos Rubbish Music and Quartz Sand. Her most recent releases can be found on Persistence of Sound and Room 40.

Careful Guest

Careful Guest is the moniker of artist and experimental music maker Elliot Buchanan. His music deals with the feelings, emotions and states of mind of contemporary experience. Moving through ambient configurations, vocal manipulations and noise textures, it is both satirical and sincere - as if listening to the slow motion catastrophe of late stage capitalism.
