Adopt-a-Plant Day & Small Space Gardening Talk - The Eco Crafts Project

Join us at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on August 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM (BST) for a fun and green afternoon! Come along to decorate a plant pot and adopt a plant of your choice to take home. All plants are young and will grow into full sized plants with love and care. You will be given a card with care instructions on how to care for your new plant.

At 2:30 PM, stick around for a talk on small space gardening by Jackie Stonehouse. Whether you have a garden, a balcony, or no outdoor space at all, learn some great tips and tricks to grow your own food produce right at home.

It’s a great chance to get creative, pick up a new plant, and discover how to make the most of your space for gardening. See you there!

(Plants are limited to one per attending person and choice is on a first come first served basis. Outcomes are not guaranteed)

This event is primarily for adults.
A maximum of 5 children allowed per session.

We ask that:

All attendees must be over 10 years old
Each under 18 must be supervised by a participating adult
Each under 18 must be on best behaviour
Each under 18 needs to be taking part in the craft activity or sat at the table as much as possible

What is The Eco Crafts Project?

The Eco Crafts Project is an 8‑week creative sustainability programme in August & September 2026, which is delivering 16 hands-on events led by Bishop Busy Hands Community Craft Group. Taking place across multiple venues in Bishop Auckland and 3 in Spennymoor, the project welcomes people from all backgrounds to explore creative wellbeing in ways that are fun, accessible, and genuinely a net-positive for the planet.
