About this Event

Video Editing With Adobe Premiere

Taking your footage from raw to final cut can be an overwhelming prospect. In this one-day hands-on workshop, award-winning editor Mike Scalisi will take you through an overview of his editing process and teach you step-by-step how to edit using Adobe Premiere. The workflow will be general enough to apply to any sort of video you need to edit, from narrative films to documentaries to social media content.

Topics Covered:

  • Best practices for organizing raw footage and other assets.
  • Setting up your project correctly.
  • Workflow for sorting through large amounts of footage.
  • Best practices for constructing your edit.
  • Color and sound tools for finishing.
  • Best formats and codecs for exporting

Other tools and techniques will be discussed as we progress through these topics, so please bring your questions or issues you’d like to discuss.

Who Should Take This Class?

Particularly beginners, but anyone looking to improve their skills in video editing, from beginner to intermediate, to gain more detailed knowledge of how the post-production process works. The class will be taught in Adobe Premiere but a lot of the workflow could apply to other non-linear editing applications such as Resolve.

What To Bring?

You should come with the computer or laptop you wish to edit on, with Adobe Premiere already installed. Also a fast, external hard drive (7200 rpm), or an SSD with 250 GB of free space for class files. Additionally, please bring a set of headphones or earbuds for when we're editing audio. Feel free to bring a secondary monitor if you wish to use one. Please note: computers will not be provided; you need to bring your own computer, with Adobe Premiere already installed before you arrive.
