About this event

Here at the Integrative Therapies Training Unit at , we offer qualified therapists and health care professionals the chance to further enhance their professional development. This Adapting Integrative Therapies for Cancer and Supportive Care Diploma is ideal for those working in a cancer care or supportive care setting and wish to expand their expertise and knowledge in the use of different therapies to support patients and carers.

Course Attendance

All of the courses that make up this diploma pathway are standalone events and run throughout the year, so you can start your diploma at any point. If you wish, you can attend a few of the courses and then upgrade to the diploma package at a later date; the payments you have previously made will be deducted from the full price of the diploma. You can find a list of the educational events that make up the diploma pathway below and more details about each of the individual courses here.

Note: Attendance on all the required courses will need to be completed within 2 years of the date of your first chosen course.

Assignments

There are 3 written assignments that need to be completed to gain the award. You will need access to clients for developing a case study and for reflective practice assignments. We will provide a diploma handbook which will include supporting information about written assignments, reflective practice models and referencing.

Note: You have 1 year from the date of the last course to complete your written assignments.

Aims of the diploma programme pathways

The aims of the diploma pathway is as follows:

· meet the needs of supportive and palliative care settings for therapists who are able to work at and/or develop diploma level practice, locally, nationally and internationally,

· meet the needs of therapists and/or other healthcare professionals in attaining a diploma level practice as required to work in cancer, supportive and palliative care settings within an integrated healthcare model,

· prepare students for employment within a range of supportive and palliative settings, including: acute cancer care units, day care centres, rehabilitation, hospice care, private practice and outreach and domiciliary services,

· enable students to progress to graduate and higher level studies, and to facilitate practice development in their chosen specialist area,

· develop each practitioner’s/student’s capacity to learn, both on the programme and as independent and lifelong learners,

· provide flexible learning opportunities, widening access for practitioners working in a variety of settings e.g. part-time employment, full-time employment, career change and returning to work, and

· foster student’s/practitioner’s transferable skills to enhance employability and quality care provided to patients and carers.

Tutor support

You will receive tutor support from the Diploma Programme Lead throughout the diploma.

Prerequisite

Integrative therapists or health care practitioner working in a supportive health care setting with at least one year’s therapeutic practice with appropriate insurance.

Fees

The diploma costs £1,180. This can be paid in full or in instalments as a £250 deposit followed by 8 separate monthly standing order payments of £116.25.
