About this Event

This is a training event for third sector organisations in Glasgow who are interested in active transport. Travel by pavement or cycling can greatly reduce your group’s emissions, your staff’s cost of living, and air pollution. If streets and infrastructure prevent this, there are ways to make them walkable, as well.

We will hear from:

· Gail Murray from Bike for Good on the support available from them

· Valentin Jeanjean from Cycling Scotland on funding and schemes for cycling

· Kate Joester from Living Streets on how you can make your neighbourhood walkable and accessible

This event is offered for free, funded by Glasgow Climate Action Hub. If you want to get involved in more climate work in Glasgow, feel free to sign up.

Bike for Good – Gail Murray

We enable people to ride a bike. We believe that cycling is the most effective and sustainable form of transport; we believe it enhances our chances for a healthy life and environment.

I am the Active Travel Department Lead and I oversee all the projects linked with active travel, this includes all lessons, one-to-one and group, all led rides, all cargo bike training and loans, all professional driver training, all events, all local employer requests of support, all Dr Bikes and some maintenance classes and FYOB classes.

Cycling Scotland – Valentin Jeanjean

We're Scotland’s national cycling charity: working with others, we get more people cycling, more safely and easily in a better environment.

I am the Funding and Partnerships Manager at Cycling Scotland and support the delivery of programmes of support and funding, to help workplaces, schools, campuses, communities, and social housing providers across Scotland be cycling friendly and attain nationally accredited awards. My role also extends to the delivery of our access to bikes programme.

Living Streets – Kate Joester

Living Streets is the UK's national charity for everyday walking, working with communities, schools and workplaces to make walking the easy and obvious choice for local journeys.

I'm Projects Team Leader working with communities and policy-makers to make sure that communities' voices are heard in the design of the places they live in, work in and visit, and running programmes that encourage and support people to walk more.
