About this Event

Join us for a full-day, accredited Carbon Literacy training course designed to build your understanding of climate change and empower you to take meaningful action within your community.

We will explore the science and impacts of climate change, the role of carbon emissions, the solutions available to us, and what climate action means in our everyday lives, groups and communities.

The session is highly interactive, combining engaging presentations with group discussions, activities, videos and opportunities to share ideas and develop practical solutions.

Aims of the session:

By the end of the day, you will:

• Understand the causes and impacts of climate change and why urgent action is needed
• Understand the carbon impacts of everyday activities and decisions
• Explore practical solutions for reducing carbon emissions
• Consider how climate change affects your organisation, community and wider society
• Identify where you can make the greatest difference through your own actions
• Develop an individual action and a group/collective action to reduce carbon emissions

Accreditation:

Successful completion of the training, action plans and reflections will enable you to receive Carbon Literate certification through The Carbon Literacy Project.

Who is it for?

This training is suited to those who who are an active member of a Swansea based community group who are keen to take a lead on Climate Change in that group. Interested individuals are also welcome to apply.

Where is the course being held?

The course will be held at the Environment Centre, Pier St, Swansea.

Cost and Booking Info

This Training Programme is fully funded for registered BIG Climate Leap groups. We are open to applications from new groups.

Interested individuals are welcome to join this programme for a £15 one off payment. Arrangements can be made if you feel this payment may not be manageable for you so please do get in touch.

After you've booked your place, a project officer from the Big Climate Leap will be in touch to send you more information about the training.
