Abandoned Mine Reclamation Site Tour

Join us on October 23rd at 8:45 am for a Moab Museum-facilitated abandoned mine reclamation site tour, led by Utah Abandoned Mine Reclamation (AMR) Program and the Department of Energy Defense-Related Uranium Mines (DRUM) Program. This half-day field trip, which begins at the Moab Museum (meet up here to meet the leaders of the trip, figure out carpool logistics, etc.), will invite participants to learn about mining history and its legacies in the field, accompanied by experts in mine site closures and cleanup. This year, we’ll be exploring the Yellowcat Mining Area North of Arches National Park. Details to come about specific mines!

We’ll invite guests to browse the Museum space following the mine tour and expand upon field-learning in the galleries.

Schedule:

8:45am Meet at Moab Museum

9:00am Depart Moab Museum; 1 hour drive to Yellow Cat Mining District

10:00-12:00pm Tour Yellow Cat Mining District 

12:00pm Depart Yellow Cat, 1 hour drive to return to Moab Museum
