Alessandra Amorino, flute
Alessandra Amorino earned an MMus in Flute from the Conservatory of Cagliari (Italy) and a BA in Chamber Music from the Conservatory of Rome (Italy). She was awarded the Berio Prize at the “Severino Gazzelloni Fellowship Competition” 2002, for the best performance of Berio’s “Sequenza I”. As an expert in contemporary music, she performs as soloist and plays flute(s) in two renowned Italian chamber ensembles: Imago Sonora and Piccola Accademia degli Specchi (PadS), participating in major music festivals across Europe, giving several world and Italian premieres of dedicated scores. She has extensive experience working in orchestras and chamber ensembles (from duo to sextet), with a repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary music. She has participated in the recording of film soundtracks and new music by distinguished composers, such as Ennio Morricone, released on international labels. She frequently served as principal flute/piccolo and second flute several classical and pop/ rock music orchestras: R3O Orchestra in Rome (2002-2016), Spoleto’s Teatro Lirico Orchestra (59th season); Renato Zero’s and PFM’s orchestra; Italian television (RAI) and in UK in several musicals and as second flute in the Royal Northern Sinfonia in Newcastle upon Tyne. As a member of PAdS, she also recorded three CDs (Minimamachta, Centaur Record, USA, 2009; House of Mirrors, Zefir Records, The Netherlands, 2011 and Collision Point, Belarca Records, USA, 2019). She is flute teacher at the Emmanuel College and at the Sage Gateshead; she has been collaborating with the Music Department of Durham University as flute performance teacher since 2019. She has an MA in Art History from the Roma Tre University.
Rachel Dyson, soprano
Northumbrian soprano Rachel Dyson was with the Estonian National in Tallinn for six years where she performed in various operas, oratorios, concerts and musicals including Wagner’s Fliegende Hollander, Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (2 nd bridesmaid), Stein’s Viiuldaja Katusel, Kalman’s Die Zirkusprinzessin (Circus Maiden), Hindemith’s Cardillac, Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Gounod’s Faust, Wagner’s Tannhauser, Mozart’s Requiem, Korvit’s Liblikas, Bizet’s Carmen, Puccini’s La Boheme, Puccini’s Tosca, Handel’s Giulio Cesare and Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Spades. With the Opera she toured Estonia, Scandinavia, Moscow and the Baltic states with various productions and concerts. Now back in the UK her performances have included the William Shield Festival in Gateshead, Tippett’s A child of our Time and Mozart’s Requiem for the Hexham Orpheus Choir, Beethoven’s Mass in C for Tynemouth Choral, a shortened version of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel (Gretel) for a children’s performance at the Newcastle Lit and Phil Society, NEPAC Last Night of the Proms at The Sage Gateshead, Carluccio’s Italian Opera Nights, ‘Proms on the lawn’ at Kirkley Hall, ‘Pot Luck’ Pirates of Penzance (Mabel) at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, Bach’s Johannes Passion, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Mozart’s Mass in C Minor for the Bury Bach Choir, Goodall’s Eternal Light Requiem for Scunthorpe Choral Society and the following roles for Rocket Opera: Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Donna Anna), Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Belinda), Sullivan’s The Mikado (Yum Yum), The Pirates of Penzance (Mabel) and Trial by Jury (The Plaintiff). Colombina in Lusvardi’s comic opera Colombo Tutto Tondo at the Galway Festival, Happy and Glorious a Queen’s Jubilee concert in Bury St Edmonds, Bizet’s Carmen (Micaela) for The Sage Gateshead Opera Chorus, touring with Heritage Opera production of Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, Sullivan’s The Gondoliers (Gianetta) and the title role in Patience at the Buxton International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival.
Yoshie Kawamura, piano
Yoshie Kawamura was born in Japan Nagoya and has been a resident in the UK since she was 11. She has given many performances worldwide where her main appearances were; in Germany 200th year of celebration for Chopin at Freiburg Musikhochschule, Switzerland Chamber Music Concert at Luzern Marianischer Saal, Berlin Chamber Music Festival Lunchtime Concert Series at Berliner Philharmoniker, and Netherlands International Stichting Apeldoon Festival. She was also invited to join the Berlin Philharmonic Quartet in performing Schumann’s Piano Quintet on their tour of Japan; subsequently she received an invitation from the Poznan Philharmonia to perform as a soloist in Chopin’s Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise in a series of concerts in Poland. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music at Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Joan Havill and later went to Germany to further her studies with Prof. Mishory at Musikhochschule Freiburg. In 2013 she came back to the UK to receive her second master degree in Cultural Management at Northumbria University where she subsequently became a co-founder of Brundibar Arts Festival which is a annual festival dedicated to the Music and Arts of the Holocaust. Yoshie is now based in the North East performing locally appearing at King’s Hall Newcastle University, The Glasshouse ICM, Durham Cathedral, Richmond music society, Long Newton music society, and other local venues. She is also a dedicated piano teacher teaching privately, The Glasshouse ICM, and Durham University.
