Join us for A Toast to PS Waimarie, a black-tie fundraising cocktail and auction evening in support of PS Waimarie’s 2026 out-of-water survey and full deck replacement.
Held at Heritage House on Saturday 8 August 2026, the evening includes bubbles on arrival and canapés by Aotea Catering. Kajun Brooking will be our MC, with a live auction featuring exceptional donated items, including works by Matthew McIntyre Wilson, Michelle Sigley and Rhys Carr.

Every ticket sold, auction bid and donation will help support the essential work needed to keep PS Waimarie operating safely and sharing Whanganui’s river story for future generations.
PS Waimarie is New Zealand’s only operational coal-fired paddle steamer. Built in 1899, salvaged from the Whanganui River after decades in the mud, and restored through a remarkable community effort, she remains one of Whanganui’s most treasured heritage icons.
In 2026, she must come out of the water for her mandatory Maritime New Zealand survey and major deck replacement work. Without this work, she cannot continue operating.
