Friday August 14, 2026 at Hendershots (an early show), so mark you calendars. The Smillies, of Janet and the New Dogs, are coming out of hibernation and joining up with their friends The Original Screw Tops for a night of blues done Athens style. Tickets and reserved tables are on sale now, and this one will sell out quick, so grab a table/ticket soon.

The Smillies, Janet (vocals) and Dennis (guitar/lapsteel) have been making music together for 30 years, from their days jamming at the famous club Johnny D’s in Boston, to fronting blues and classic rock bands in Philly, the Pocono Mountains, and for the last ten years here in Athens, as founding members of the Athens blues/rock band Janet and the New Dogs. Janet’s powerhouse vocals light up the stage, and Dennis’ unique finger picking and slide guitar stylings bring a new feel to blues classics.
Founded in 2012, The Original Screw Tops is a local Athens-GA band that plays original blues as well as its own take on old time classics.
