We're excited to welcome Kirstie Simson and Charlie Brittain in Glasgow for a weekend immersion into:
Dancing Practices that Promote Well-being, Resilience and Healing in Challenging Times
DATES:
Saturday 5 September, 10:30-17:30
Sunday 6 September, 10:30-17:30
VENUE:
Community Central Hall, 292-316 Maryhill Road, Glasgow, G20 7YE
There is profound inspiration in an improvisation practice that places vulnerability at its centre. When we learn to care for and respond to this state of openness in ourselves, others, and the world around us, creative work becomes powerful, transformative and deeply human.
Together we’ll honour the body’s innate pull toward wholeness, balance, creativity and healing, exploring embodied intelligence and imagination through dancing practices that arise from the radical softness of the heart‑space. These reflective, movement‑based explorations help us witness the joy and transformation that emerge from simply experiencing our bodies in motion.
Across the workshop we’ll move through shared dancing, scored explorations and group processing... affirming our interconnectedness, and how it supports resilience in meeting the personal and collective challenges of our times.
Kirstie and Charlie draw from decades of experience in improvisation, Contact Improvisation, contemporary dance, bodywork, biomechanics, integrative health, Aikido, meditation and more. Their collaboration is rooted in a shared dedication to dance as a healing, life‑affirming practice, expanding across international communities and diverse contexts of dance, healthcare and life.
This is an open level 2-day workshop offering valuable information for dancers, movement practitioners and health professionals including those with little or no experience.
